Miss Margaret Moser explains a six day fattening process for chickens to improve flavor and weight. A fattening coop with a 44 inch floor grid is used, birds fed progressively up to four times daily, then slaughtered on the seventh day to minimize shrink.

Carey Cardinals defeated the Samnorwood Eagles 22 to 18 in the first game for both teams played Thursday night. McFather and Middleton led Carey with seven points each while Turner scored six for Samnorwood. Coaches praised the effort after two weeks of practice. Referee Wayne Wilkins from Wellington officiated.
Sunday school attendance was strong and a sunset program featured Rev. Bill Bruce. Local families gathered as visits spanned from Shamrock to Deason with many relatives and friends sharing meals and birthday commemorations over the weekend.
