Funeral Here Wednesday for Mrs J H Walters
Mrs. J H Walters long resident of the area died in Fitzsimmons General Hospital Denver at noon Sunday August 10. Funeral services were held at Kelso Chapel Wednesday at 10 am with the Rev Fane Derryberry of Beaumont and Rev R E Walters of Amarillo officiating. Burial in West Wellington Cemetery. Survivors include three daughters and two sons, plus numerous grandchildren and siblings.

Funeral Here Thursday for Mrs Glasgow
Funeral services for Mrs. Johanna Glasgow formerly of Wellington were held at First Baptist Church on Thursday August 15 at 10 am. The Rev. Kenneth Quaid officiated with burial in West Wellington Cemetery under Coley Funeral Home of Hollis. Pallbearers were Billy Langford M G Duvall Jr Wade Berryman Lynn Wright Billy Moseley and Charles Duvall. Mrs. Glasgow died Tuesday night in a Hollis nursing home after years of illness. She was born May 3 1900 in Greenville and is survived by one son Henry Dilmer Glasgow of Bangor Maine and six sisters and two brothers. The notice also lists lengthy social items about local residents visiting relatives in various Texas and Oklahoma Panhandle towns.

James Forrest, a patient at Thomas Nursing Home since December 1960, died at St. Joseph’s Hospital on Monday August 19 at 11:20 p.m. after a heart attack. He was born December 7, 1894 and was a Methodist. Survivors include sister Pauline Thomas of Dallas and niece Dorothy Jernigan of Shamrock. Funeral services and burial followed in Shamrock.

Jimmy Thompson will receive a bachelor of science in Civil Engineering in absentia at Texas Technologies College in Lubbock on August 2. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Laren Thompson and will start work August 1 with Howard Needles Tammen and Bergendorf in Kansas City. He previously worked for the State Highway Department and lived in Lubbock during school. Mrs. Thompson is the former Joyce Hicks. They have two children, Patti and Kent. Etheria is produced by distillation of alcohol with sulfuric acid.
