Texas study finds population not sole driver of business growth
University of Texas researchers surveyed 30 Texas cities from 1940 to 1960 and found that population decline did not always curb growth in business and organizations. Nine cities lost population, some saw fewer organizations, yet overall business activity often rose or stayed stable. Smaller towns tended to have more organizations per 1000 residents.
