Texans urged to conserve water at home with simple fixes
County Agent's Column emphasizes efficient home water use. Tips include installing low flow showerheads and faucets, upgrading toilets to 1.6 gallons per flush, turning off faucets while brushing, running only full loads in dishwashers and washers, fixing leaks, and using cold or stored water for cooking. Estimates show leaks and high thermostat settings waste significant water and money.

A Texas 4-H Achievement Awards Banquet is set for August 20 2000 at Burn Handley Community Center with about 80 members expected to receive awards. The event features the Gold Star Award and I Dare You Award. A 4-H bread project workshop is scheduled for August 23 2000 and a county bread show on September 6 2000 at the county courthouse.
