Wind and hail damage hits Wellington area farms and town
A Thursday storm, near July 30, tore through Collingsworth County east of the Coop Gin and across Wellington. West of the airport a cotton field was destroyed and any crops in the path were ruined. Residential areas saw broken windows, hail damaged cars, and downed trees. Insurance agents report 260 to 280 claims, with commercial roofs among the worst hit.
