Catastrophe at Halley and Lewiston Sawmill News

Knights of Pythias Elect Officers at Semiannual Meeting
Knights of Pythias held a crowded regular meeting and elected Grand Representative M. L. Vial to attend the Grand Lodge in Pocatello on June 11. D. Marsh was chosen Alternative Representative and officers for the ensuing term included Feltham, Unter, Brizendine, Van Sice, Kalin, Anderson, Marsh, Dickerson, Brizendine, Gordon, and others.

Sunday School Picnic Draws Large Turnout at Durbin Grove
The Baptist, Congregational and Episcopal churches held their annual Sunday school picnic last Saturday at Durbin's grove eight miles east of town. A large crowd required an extra train each way. It was a perfect day and a fine program was enjoyed with well managed affairs and no incidents. Also, a battle report from May 23 near Neoteradorp and Porsche fiestra notes Boer forces attacking a convoy, with four killed and 30 wounded as the convoy reached safety.

Weiser Smelter Enterprise Moves Ahead Near Weiser Canyon
Lewis A Hall directs Wilkerson and Thompson to begin grading for a new smelter near the mouth of Weiser canyon ten miles east of Weiser. The plan calls for a 100 ton daily capacity initially, expanding to 1000 tons, with $100000 in initial expenditures and railway expansion into Seven Devils. About 30 workers will be employed, establishing Weiser as a central Northwest smelting hub as ore sources from Sumpter Baker Owyhee pursue reductions at the plant.

G A R Encampment And W R C Convention In Idaho
The 14th annual Idaho G A R encampment and the 7th annual W R C convention will be in Coeur d Alene on June 20 to 22. Railroads offer reduced round trip fares from Southern Idaho points, with sales on June 18. Fares listed include Boine to Spokane 20 return, Nampa 19, Caldwell 18.553, Weiser 16.85, Spokane to Coeur d Alene 1 05, return 35 cents.

NEW VOPPER COMPANY IN IDAHO SEVEN DEVILS PROJECT
