The Weiser Signal notes no opposition to a municipal water and light plant. Until utilities are provided, expensive city buildings and metropolitan ambitions cannot proceed. Citizens realize the need for water and power and urge an overwhelming bond approval to endorse municipal ownership as permanent policy for public utilities.
Democratic primaries for Welner Precinct will be held Saturday July 12 at 2 00 p m at East Weiser high school building Middle Weiser O M Harveys office and West Weiser third ward schoolhouse.
James WN Donaldson, who left Chicago two months ago, returns Sunday via Chicago Cleveland Milwaukee Detroit. He learns 10 carloads of the Dewey stamp mill are en route with part of the shipment, and 20 more cars sent to other mines. The mine is described as a bonanza and owners invest to bring machinery and ore reduction plants to the site.
On a voyage across the Atlantic a shipboard gambling crowd turns bets on daily events and even the captain. Ashurat, a quiet man with spectacles, is urged to bet big as Tillotson dares to claim the captain’s nose could be pulled before Fire Island sighting.
Ashurst bets against Tillotson over ousting the captain for cash. Gerkin cast the deciding vote as the crew witnessed a barber shop caper. Tillotson shaves the asleep captain, winning the wager and spending $100 on champagne for Sailors' Snug Harbor.

In Walter Idaho a special election on July 1902 seeks voter approval for municipal bonds totaling 169,900 to fund waterworks, electric lighting, and fire department needs. Bonds payable for 20 years carry 6 percent interest, with a sinking fund to ensure repayment after ten years. The measure requires a tax levy on all taxable property to cover interest and principal. Ballots will be prepared per local ordinances and state law.
