Two Farmers Drowned In Snake River Near Blixs

Buss July 8 Frank Dexter and Oscar Smith, farmers living three miles above Blixs on Snake River, went fishing for sturgeon. They used an old boat, failed to return by noon, prompting search. Boat found shattered below rapids three miles downstream, but the men were not recovered. Dexter left a wife and four children. Smith left a wife and two small children.

Death at Pearl Idato: Miner Ole Berg Found Dead

The body of Ole Berg, about 34, unmarried, was found dusk Monday at Deep Gulch two miles from Pearl. A shotgun lay beside the body, and it is believed he died by his own hand. Berg, a miner, went hunting Sunday morning and did not return by noon. He was well known in the Rock region.

Elopement at Baker City Ties Payette Couple

Miss May McGlinchy and Bert Gilmore, both of Payette, eloped from Weiser to Baker City last Saturday after parental opposition. The pair, longtime companions, boarded the westbound train and wed after visiting a local minister, with McGlinchy well known in Weiser.
