Thunder Mountain mine reports first accident this year

The Thunder Mountain mine, Fairview, records its first mining accident with J. B. Gilman severely bruised but alive after firing a five hole shot. A defective fuse caused a premature blast trapping him briefly, followed by another blast that warned off danger as rocks fell. Gilman crawled to safety and was treated locally.

Strike on Botha Creek Gold Strike Reported

Day reports arrival from Coongil with two prospectors who say they located a vein on the head of Botha Creek near Rainbow Mountain. Samples run about 120 dollars per ton, the lead narrow at roughly ten feet. Prospectors named John Reardon and James Sheehan.
