The Thunder Mountain mine, Fairview, records its first mining accident with J. B. Gilman severely bruised but alive after firing a five hole shot. A defective fuse caused a premature blast trapping him briefly, followed by another blast that warned off danger as rocks fell. Gilman crawled to safety and was treated locally.
Governor Hunthaa issued a proclamation designating May 2 as Arbor Day and urged widespread observance, especially by schools and colleges, to honor trees and civic duty.
Mr. Milliken the copper expert representing the eastern capitalist went north on the P I N yesterday with Mr. Lewis A Hall to inspect the Seven Devils district He spoke of Heath and said the area shows great promise for developing immense mines and potential interests between Milliken and Hall.
Attorney Frank Harris represented Miss Mary Madison in Boise last week in a breach of promise suit against Ben Caswell. Caswell settled out of court by paying the defendant 2000 dollars.
In Boise an Overland hotel lobby scene centered on Thunder Mountain gold fields bets. Wood River men offered 1160 to back Council via a faster route, plus 100 to prove Ketchum route impossible.
