Death in a gas-filled well at Minidoka

Henry Mitchell died while descending a well at Rupert in Minidoka county. Gas accumulated overnight, he was overcome about 40 feet down, fell to the bottom, and died. Victor the lumber merchant lowered himself to retrieve the body but was rendered unconscious by the gas. Mitchell, a native of Butte, left behind relatives near that city.
