Henry Mitchell died while descending a well at Rupert in Minidoka county. Gas accumulated overnight, he was overcome about 40 feet down, fell to the bottom, and died. Victor the lumber merchant lowered himself to retrieve the body but was rendered unconscious by the gas. Mitchell, a native of Butte, left behind relatives near that city.
Central Idaho's major deal closes in New York City as Pacifico Idaho Northern is sold by Mr. Hall to Lewis Van Riper and Associates. Purchase price undisclosed with transfer set for June 1 and plans for extensions to Council Meadows Payette Lake and Roosevelt. General implications include potential narrow gauge links and broader mineral development.
General Manager Heigho announced the Pacific and Idaho Northern Railway will extend to Meadows this year with construction starting as material arrives.
