Weiser County Board Sets Road District Reevaluation

The Weiser County board met to examine road district overseers and elections, approving several appointments including Overseer District No 5 and No 7. They discussed road district boundaries, penalties on delinquent taxes, and allowed numerous current expense fund claims for election officials, court costs, poor farm support, and county services.

Western Idaho Sugar to Launch Two Factories in 1906

Deseret News reports a new Western Idaho Sugar Company to be incorporated in Salt Lake City with local stockholders from Payette, Nampa, Boise, Caldwell and Salt Lake City. Stock has reached 1.5 million dollars. two sugar factories planned near Payette and in Canyon county to open by fall 1906.

McPherson Resigns as State Horticultural Chief

Alex McPherson, state horticultural inspector and pure food commissioner, resigns to become superintendent of agriculture with the Twin Falls Land & Water Company. He will oversee farming interests and teach eastern settlers proper irrigation methods. McPherson served the state 12 years, starting as deputy inspector in Ada County. A. F. Hitt of Weiner succeeds him as secretary of the horticultural board.

Remains Identified in Payette River Mystery

The find on John son’s island in the Payette river yielded remains identified as Henry Borem of Falk's Store. Borem disappeared around the holidays after leaving home following a domestic dispute, telling his son Albert he was bound for California. No further witnesses have appeared.

He secured several claims in Goldfields district and Inyo county and plans to return with men. He notes Diamondfield Jack Davie bought a large automobile and runs a Tonopah Goldfield stage line. Feeder traffic to Goldfield grows with 200 to 300 arrivals daily.
