A dawn burglary attempt at Felthouse Bros store ended when a prowler, seen by a cab driver and a night watchman, fled through a side door and into the rear cellar. The burglar was traced when a match he struck exposed his escape route, drawing attention to his hideout and prompting pursuit.
An officer agreed to a request and the cracksman entered the side door. He was later jailed as a heavy sledge was found inside and the safe combination damaged, promising the job would continue to force the operation.
