Fire destroys Bird area saloon and nearby buildings

A fire swept through the Bird district along the lower river days ago, wiping out Freidenrich's ware, and damaging Cooper and Dixon saloon and hotel, butcher shop, post office, office, telephone office, Star tod and law office. Nearby structures suffered extensive damage.

Gerhardt Behrens, 74, from Warren district, vanished from his cabin near Secesh Meadows while seeking food. Heavy snows many feet deep hinder search efforts, with neighbors scouring the area after he left his cabin for unknown reasons. His long residence near Secesh Meadows places him among local placer property owners awaiting news.

Death of William Hrakine Found At Brand House

In Butte Montana on March 27 William Hrakine 67 a former president of Halt Lake now Idaho Falls resident was found dead in a Brand house room. Corpse swollen and face distorted with no signs of foul play though he had been dead about 48 hours. Post mortem planned to determine cause. His wife lives in Elk City Idaho. The Chicago Lady Entertainers visit the opera house April 10. Outlook Club booked them.
