Stolen Bond Suspect Arrested After Cashing Coupons

In Philadelphia a well dressed man about thirty five entered a Third Street bank and tried cashing five twenty coupons. He was linked to a September sale of a 1100 bond at the same bank and to a later offer of 2760 in another bond. A detached coupon matched a bond stolen from Man-Woo Savings Bank. The man, known as Warren and claiming Wilmington Delaware, was taken to jail for hearing. He is a dealer in stolen bonds and faces prison.

Two Aeronauts Perish After Balloon Ascension Attempt

In San Francisco on October 6, aeronaut Colgrave and Woodward Gardens’ C. J. Williany attempted a balloon ascent. High gale winds caused the balloon to fail to vent properly and rip, sending ballast and wires, with both occupants thrown from the craft. Williams died from injuries. Colgrave’s wounds were internal. The balloon collapsed near Brugh wires, shocking garden patrons who warned against risky flights in such conditions.
