In San Francisco on March 26 Judge McKenna granted a decision in the injunction case brought by Continental Insurance Company against the Board of Five Underwriters of the Pacific Coast. The ruling holds the Board as a legal entity and that its members may refuse to do business with companies not in the Union. The sole point in favor of Continental concerns a San Jose agent who advertised policy cancellations. the court rules the combine had no right to issue such public notices.
A joke unfolds as Chauncey M. Depew, aboard a train in New York on March 25, misreads a college welcome by 75 students as cheers for himself and responds with a political speech on the platform. The students’ joke goes unseen as the train pulls away.
Sheriff Hadley of Hansboldt escorted Menecucei Oinditch as they traveled to the State Prison on Sunday. Oinditch had been convicted of manslaughter and faced immediate imprisonment as the convoy proceeded toward the facility.
Carson City March 23 1895 no major mint short age developments yet as government expert Andrew Mason leads the probe assaying bullion and hunting for bogus bricks. Curiously detectives and strangers abound while Curtin chief of the San Francisco Detective Bureau departs and Keating visits with mint officials. Legislature notes list vetoed and approved acts plus A B 59 for Tony Kramer relief and tall Nevadan profiles including the Raycraft brothers Charley Stone Nobe Jefferson W J Holmes and Colonel Hardesty.
