Disastrous fire destroys Connors home and injures girl

A fatal fire broke out at 2 PM in the home of Mrs. M J Connors at the corner of H and Flower streets. The blaze spread to the neighboring Noonan residence, leaving both buildings gutted or wrecked. Fourteen year old Minnie Connors suffered burns to arms and face while attempting to start a stove coal oil fire. a neighbor aided her escape. The incident caused extensive property damage and prompted a general alarm.

A Clever Granddaughter Thursday marked a notable Ripley event the unveiling and dedication of a bronze bust of Rev. John Rankin the abolitionist.
