Jefferson County Board of Supervisors convened with reports on county accounts and rules for clerks, constables, and justices. They approved repairs for offices, canceled stale orders, and appropriated funds for jail, printing, and clerks fees. The finance report totals taxes and state and county figures, with adjournment set for the next morning.
The December 1 1859 meeting shows votes to reconsider a veto on funding the Poor Fund via the treasury. Amendments removed certain counter signing clauses, and motions allowed deductions from accounts of the deputy clerk and sheriff. Committee reports include tax and certificate cancellations and a total balance inquiry.
The select Committee reviews the County Treasurer report on fines and forfeitures. It lists town reports via chairmen with amounts due, shows totals of 297 60 received from Giles, Sheriff, Berthant, P, Mle, Ry, Lake Mi and others, and notes county prosecuting expenses exceed collections.
