The Confederate announces subscription terms, listing daily and weekly editions with prices for six months. The notice notes no other subscriptions will be accepted beyond those stated and references the publisher A Me Gorman & Co.
The Pennsylvania convention denounces religious and political faction, condemns Reconstruction aims, and praises Southern independence. It attacks Northern peace parties, criticizes anti-slavery campaigns, and endorses a hard line against Union defeat. The piece cites clergy and sermons amid Civil War tensions.
A fragmentary 1864 Raleigh Standard exchange cites Mr. Hampton as uninformed, with Mr. Holden defending Hampton and others as true to the South. Confederate notes recount heavy fighting from May 6 to June 3 1864. Major J A Rogers Captain James Lieut Lefer and Brig Gen Doles die in action. Clingman Colquitt Gordon and Rodes divisions drive back the assault at breastworks and report 515 prisoners. A later letter defends Clingmans brigade claiming heavy enemy attacks and high losses.

From the Valley of Virginia reports say Maj Harry Gilmore harassed Hunter's army near Newtown seven miles from Winchester. His raid routed about 160 cavalry, capturing 35 officers and NCOs, burning 18 wagons, taking 68 horses, and destroying an estimated two million dollars of property. Gilmore and others are said to have formed a junction with erethia Mis by and Gilmore.
A Richmond notice lists recent promotions and command assignments in the Army of Northern Virginia. Senior officers promoted include Col. Wmn. R.C.x to brigadier general and Col. Toon of the 20th, with Lt. Col. W. G. Lewis of the 431 also elevated. The piece details temporary and permanent assignments to brigades and divisions, including J. Bo Kerhaw to McLaws Division, Bean Grimes to Daniel's NC Livade, and various generals to Gordon's Cavalry Brigade, Ewell's Division, and other units. The report reflects ongoing staff reshuffling alongside a lengthy, mixed-era letter about press intelligence and public notices from Lancaster Ledger.
