Status of Electric Road Franchises to Be Asked at Council
Local citizens await Monday night council action on electric road franchises to Terre Haute and East St. Louis. Two groups, led by T W Allen of Greenup and W A Hayward of Vandalia, seek approval for interurban lines parallel to the Vandalia route. A Springfield dispatch notes Johnson Bros of St Elmo and others pushing a St Louis to Terre Haute line with Morgan and Clark interests also involved. The Highland Journal says Steinhauer plans only to secure right of way to attract investors. The council may clarify who will build and when work starts.
