On November 7 James A Harris, 68, of Peoria, fell asleep while seated and has not been conscious for more than half an hour since. Two brief periods of consciousness occurred. Dr E L Davis says Harris may survive only briefly. Local physicians find the case puzzling.

In St Louis on December 13 Judge Adams sentenced Ben Kilpatrick the alleged Great Northern train robber to 15 years hard labor in the Missouri penitentiary after a jury found him guilty on one count. Laura Bullion was found guilty on one count but not yet sentenced as the judge consider jurisdiction for removing her to an out of state prison.
Six masked men broke into the Northern Central railroad office at New Freedom Pennsylvania on a Wednesday night. Two guards stayed outside while four attempted to blow the safe. Charles Shaffer, an engineer, confronted them and was overpowered before the robbers escaped. A posse formed but the culprits were not found.

The secretary of war sent Congress an estimate of 1,260,000 dollars for a main building for the army war college and quarters for the president of the college plus its military and academic staff. The barracks will be rebuilt to house an engineer school of application.
