Chetwynd Ambulance Committee Buys 1957 Ford Vehicle

The Chetwynd Ambulance Committee announced securing a 1957 Ford ambulance with stretcher oxygen gear and flashing light. The vehicle, overhauled and driven about 1000 miles, cost 781.00 and requires transfers and insurance before use. A Tuesday meeting will set operation and maintenance plans and appoint a replacement for Nelson Wheeler.

Tenders Called on Road Project North of Hudson Hope

Tenders are invited for the first 12.67 miles of the Hudson Hope to Chetwynd road north section. The work covers from the Portage Mountain and Hudson Hope connection south to the new bridge and about eight more miles toward Moosecall and Sands brothers cabin. Future calls are expected for the remaining road to Chetwynd.

Firemen Now Official In Chetwynd Volunteer Dept

At a Village Commission meeting the Chetwynd Volunteer Fire Department was officially organized with Roger St Denis as Chief E A Kelly as Deputy Chief and Ray Meyer Norman Stirling Clifford Bjorge and Gus Hartman named as firemen The resolution fixes monthly pay of 15 to the Chief 10 to the Deputy Chief and 5 to each fireman with extra 1 per hour when on fires Seven auxiliary firemen may be appointed who receive 1 per hour when called out plus the department must meet weekly and maintain equipment and training

Insurance Firm to Open Office in Chetwynd

J J Hodgkinson and Son of Dawson Creek will open a Chetwynd branch for insurance services. The first day is Tuesday October 22 in the office above the Post Office, with initial hours Tuesday and Wednesday before full time operation and potential real estate services. Barry Dunbar will be the local representative.
