B C Hydro to Let 1964 Contracts for Peace Power Project
BC Hydro and Power Authority announced plans to invite tenders for about 100 million dollars of work linked to the Peace Power Project. The package includes an underground Fort Age Mountain power plant, generators, turbines, and about 800 transmission towers bringing power to the lower mainland. Generating turbines and generators to be among the largest in the world.

Four Apartment Blocks Planned South of Roundel Cafe
Plans are in progress for four row type apartment blocks south of the Roundel Cafe. Architects hold the plans and if arrangements succeed construction could start by July 20. The project includes 12 three bedroom and 12 two bedroom suites with bedrooms upstairs and living dining kitchen on the main floor. Principals are from Edmonton and Vancouver. Province To Buy Village Debentures For Sewer System
Finance department notified the village it is prepared to buy at par 135000 dollars of sewer debentures issued last year for the sewerage system. The debentures bear interest at 5 1 2 percent and are guaranteed by the province.

New Vice Principal Assigned at Windrem School for 1964 65
Windrem School announces the 1964 65 staff changes with Mr. R McWhirter taking over as vice principal from Dawson Creek Central Jr Secondary. He is from Victoria and has spent two years in Dawson Creek. He replaces Mr. A Adye who becomes principal at Henderson Elementary Powell River. Principal John Bastin will remain but leaves tomorrow to the Coast to mark papers.
