Three Chetwynd Hotel employees killed in Alaska Highway crash
A car carrying Wing Lee Jack Quan and Suney Jung of the Chetwynd Hotel left the Alaska Highway near the Alean Trailer Court between Fort St John and Taylor. Wing Lee was flown to Edmonton then conscious. Quan died on arrival. Jung remained in Providence Hospital Fort St John. Cause under investigation. possible front tire blowout and multiple rollovers.

Ferry Back In Service Over Peace River Near Hope
After high water kept the Peace River ferry near Hope out since spring break up, a new cable allowed operations to resume this week. The Moberly Lake Hudson Hope road has improved with 44 miles of new section in use, gravelled approaches, and rock removal, with further highway crews at work and gas pipeline traffic expected to cross tomorrow.

Packing Plant Planned for Cariboo and Peace Region

Rains Cause Heavy Damage In Peace Country
Heavy weekend rains disrupted road and rail traffic across the Peace country. No. 2 Highway near Pouce Coupe, the Northern Alberta Railway, and the PGE lines near Chetwynd were affected. A woman, Mrs. Pool of the Goodfare District, drowned crossing floodwaters at Goodfare Creek. her body was recovered after searches. Funeral services were held at Beaver Lodge Anglican Church.
