Chetwynd Rodeo draws 3500 over two days
About 3,500 people watched Chetwynd Rope and Saddle Club host a two day rodeo. Top cowboys included Bob and Bill Morrison, Bob McDonough and Len Cartier with Bob Morrison the top money winner. No serious injuries, First Aid saw two minor cases and organizers plan a bigger 1965 event with additional races.

Williams Appointed Judge of Family Court in British Columbia
Ward reports that as of June 15, W Williams was appointed judge of the Family and Children's Court of British Columbia. The Order in Council was signed by the Lieutenant Governor. Williams has served as a Chetwynd magistrate for three and a half years.
Ferry on the Peace River Near Hudson Reopens
The Peace River ferry at Hudson faced misfortune after a break in its cables during a river rise. It was towed downstream, re-cabled, and dưỡng presses say it should resume next week with passenger service now in use. Traffic approaches are being prepared as water levels drop. Check with the Highway Department in Chetwynd before travel.

New Building Permits Filed and Developments In Town
The Village Office reports four new building permit applications this week. Erwin Homes LTD seeks a duplex for H Beamer opposite the Department of Public Works and three single family homes for D Morris, Leo Klees, and John Bastin on a new subdivision near the school. Chetwynd Hardware LTD plans a 40 by 50 building south of Phillips Grocery, to be built by Chetwynd Construction Ltd. A school addition is underway by Dyke Construction and slated for completion in September. RL Tipton store on the east highway nears finish. Gordon Moore plans an elevator and feed mill on the PGE once a site is chosen, with a feedlot for feeder cattle to operate therewith.

The Provincial Government grants 62 acres of crown land to P.G.E. at Chetwynd for industrial development. A spokesman said no immediate use is planned, but efforts will attract companies. Chetwynd links to Fort St John and Dawson Creek noted.
