Fire destroys Campbell Self Serve Ltd stock and building
A fire Thursday afternoon gutted Campbell Self Serve Ltd stock and damaged the main building and warehouse. Chetwynd volunteers contained flames after 2:00 PM with water damage to inventory while nearby Post Office and Weekly Advertiser buildings were evacuated. Windrem School students aided in cleanup.

High Water and Washouts Disrupt Hart Highway and Hudson Hope Ferry
Unusually warm weather and rising rivers disrupt traffic on the Hart Highway and the Hudson Hope ferry. The Peace River crossing near Hope rose seven feet prompting the ferry to break loose and drift downstream with vehicles aboard. The ferry is back but offline for several days, with boat passenger service available. A nine hour Hart Highway closure followed a slide and washout at Mile 164 1 mile west of Willow Flats. detour around the slide is in use. Water covers the Pine Pass west of Prince George near Mile 66 north of town, though the road remains passable per Highway officials.

Man Injured at Mill Shortens 125 Day Record
A 125 day accident free streak at Fort St. John Lumber Company ended early today when Donald Tenborg of East Pine Twil Sawyer was struck by a slab from the head carriage at the local plant. He suffered a broken thigh and was taken to hospital in Dawson Creek by Safety Director HK Beamer. The company plans to continue attempting the record.

Ambulance Called Out For Sick Girl In Chetwynd
