Local Contractor Elected To Office Of Commissioner
A. Christian Chris Andersen was elected to the office of commissioner for the village of Chetwynd last Friday. Harry Beamer was re elected based on provincial provisions requiring a nominee to be on the voters list. Andersen, founder of Chetwynd Construction Ltd, native of Denmark, arrived in 1957 and naturalized in 1962.

East Side business changes hands as Young’s Confectionery, run by Carl and Helma Young for four years, is sold to Mr. M. Girard of Dawson Creek. Girard takes over June 1. Carl Young, Swedish-born immigrant, has lived and worked in Alberta and B.C. communities before returning to wind up affairs and move to a new home on 47th street.

Basil Ingram arrives as the new Superintendent of Public Works in Chetwynd to replace Ron Drysbroughy who has served since October 1962. Ingram, from Medicine Hat Alberta, is spending the week with Drysbroughy to study village operations. His first major project will be overseeing sewer and water main installations.

Village Building Permits Hit 325000 For 1964
Village office records show building permits totaling 325000 in 1964 with 110000 for residential and 213000 for commercial work. Commercial includes 165000 for additions to the Chetwynd Hotel. Residential largely under the National Housing Act and two under the Veterans Land Act. Twenty three lots north of Windrem School to be developed with sewer and water mains bids sought. Commission actions included two reckonings from A to B for residential and one rejection from A residential to commercial.

Reg Blair Suffered Painful Accident In Dawson Creek
Genial proprietor Reg Blair of Blair's Wrecking was injured Monday when a motor block hoist slipped. He received first aid from Wink Wheeler of Fort St. John Lumber and was taken to hospital. doctors expect a week to determine if the thumb can be saved.
