Extension of time was granted from the 16th to clarify specifications for a stressed reinforced concrete bridge using pre fabricated on site assembly. Thirty firms had obtained plans and specs. Premier Bennett had promised the Chetwynd Hudson Hope road would finish when the bridge is finished. engineers arrived in Chetwynd.
Seventeen members of the Grande Prairie Chamber of Commerce visited Chetwynd for a buffet supper at the Chetwynd Hotel. Led by Roy Wright and with Mrs. Guy Randall, the group toured Fort St John, Hudson Hope, Portage Mountain Power, Chetwynd and Dawson Creek while urging northern Alberta chambers to cooperate for publicity.
General Construction was reported as the low bidder when tenders for the Pine River diversion work opened. No official announcement yet as bids must be reviewed before contracts are let. Provincial engineers are on site. diversion aims to relocate part of the Hart Highway west of Chetwynd.
