Chetwynd village to form hospital society

A special village commission meeting in the Evergreen Room at the Chetwynd Hotel formed a three member committee to organize a hospital society under the Hospitals Act. The aim is to persuade South Peace Hospital Improvement District and the government to support a 21 bed hospital. A public meeting will be held to discuss desirability and potential officers.

Bridge bids opened near Judson Hope on Peace River

On Tuesday bids opened for the Peace River bridge near Judson Hope. Tide Bay Dredging Co submitted the low bid about 1.7 million, while Sam Moorehouse Ltd offered a lower base for a crated structure. Moorehouse’s bid excludes solid concrete, with grouting via high pressure into rock faults. Work may be delayed while decisions unfold. River diversion contract not yet announced after last week’s bid opening. about 20 miles of Hart Highway relocation involved. Provincial engineers on site.

Superintendent for New Westcoast Pumping Station

Albert Drew, formerly Plant 1 Foreman at Station 7 Savona near Kame j Loops, will head the new Willow Flets pumping station for Westcoast Transmission. He moves with his wife and family by August end to a home under construction. The 33 million dollar plant will boost pressure in the coastline pipeline. A staff of over fifteen will operate the station.
