Pioneer Meat Packing Company eyed for Cariboo venture
The plan aims to build a new meat packing plant in the Cariboo area with monthly surveys for cattle and hog supplies. If successful, finishing yards and possible later canning may follow, serving about 200000 people. Financing partly arranged, with local shares possible. Plant would span Prince George area west to Rupert and south to Quesnel and Williams Lake, competing with Edmonton plants. Community notices include hospital stay of Miss Vicky Campbell and return of Miss Mardelle Imdeen for holidays. A Fraternal Club picnic is planned July 12 on the Sukunka River flats south of Twidwell Bend.
