Chetwynd Hospital bid gains health department survey promise

Delegates from the proposed Chetwynd Hospital Society met with officials in Victoria to push for a local hospital. They presented patient day totals from St Joseph's Dawson and Pouce Coyne to justify need and urged a formal survey of need within two months.

Chetwynd Chamber elects Lamarre as president for coming year

At a regular Chetwynd Chamber of Commerce meeting the slate for the new year was announced. Marcel Lamarre is named president with Norman Stirling as vice president and John Martens as recording secretary. A Centennial Committee with Frank Oberle as chairman and M Lamarre as a member was formed to promote a project and invites ideas from groups. Installation of officers occurs March 3 at a hotel dinner.

Chetwynd Curling Club Eyes Briar Bid After A Event Win

The Chetwynd rink won the A event at Beaverlodge defeating Fort St. John and Beaverlodge entries and then beat Ashlee of Dawson Creek to claim the western Peace River District title. They advance to Peace River on Saturday for Alberta playoff contention with Edmonton hopes and a possible Briar run. The team blends Chester Lyndstrom skip with Jimy Horswell third Roger Demains second and Kenneth Wood lead, having formed together just over a week, while supporters kept energy high with hot coffee.
