Prestressed Box Girder Deck Bridge Over Peace River
The Hudson Hope to Chetwynd bridge at Peace River uses a single 680 foot suspension span with a concrete box girder deck 4 ft thick. Prefabricated 34 segmental units weigh 90 tons each to form the roadway, supported by four suspenders and two main unwrapped cables. Design led by H H Minshall and Phillips Barratt team with A Hicks as resident engineer.

Northbound shipment moves 21 cars of 304 pipe
Twenty one cars of 304 pipe pass through Chetwynd on Wednesday bound for Majestic Construction at Fort St John. This marks the first pipeline shipment from Fort Nelson to Willow Flats. The northern line runs through remote sections and most pipe will be staged before spring breakup. Hauling of heavy gear occurs mainly January through April as muskeg remains frozen. The south 146 miles, contracted to Price Poole, is accessible by PeGeE to Willow Flats and by road from Chetwynd. A processing plant is rising in the Boundary Lake region to clean gas and by products before mains transport to the Coast.
