St Dennis Elected Trustee in South Peace District
Sixteen Chetwyndians attended the April 9 election meeting of the South Peace Hospital Improvement District 18 Zone 5 at Groundbirch. Roy St Dennis of Chetwynd was elected Trustee for Zone 5, covering west of Groundbirch and the Village of Chetwynde.

Power Line From Dawson Creek To Chetwynd Nearing Link
The Dawson Creek to Chetwynd power line is close to delivery stage with an expected connection within a week or ten days to Portage Dam and Hudson Hope. Transformer hookups will tie Chetwynd and Dawson Creek plants in during early May, supplying energy for the Peace River project until it becomes self-sustaining.

Construction begins on Ch etwynd Hotel addition
Construction starts Tuesday on a 33 room hotel addition at the Ch etwynd Hotel with an estimated cost of 150000 dollars plus 20000 for furnishing. Mr Re Middleton is supervisor with sub trades let by contract. A full basement will be added. The area is fenced and two backhoes work on site. Architects Killick Metz Field Associates of Dawson Creek. No hotel disruption is expected.

Westcoast to occupy new quarters by October
Westcoast Transmission plans to move into its new permanent quarters in October. The facility includes a garage, offices, and workshop located north of the B.C. Hydro plant.

Chetwynd Rope and Saddle Club Formed
A meeting in the Evergreen room of the Chetwynd Hotel on April 13 formed the Chetwynd Rope and Saddle Club with 22 attendees. Officers were elected and policies set including annual memberships of 3 dollars for families and 1 dollar for individuals and plans to build a rodeo arena at the Chetwynd Fall Fair Grounds with a June rodeo.
