Local Man Missing at Hudson Hope Presumed Drowned

Dan Plante of Chetwynd employed by Price Poole contractors on the Westcoast Transmission gas line disappeared from an anchored barge at the Peace River crossing near Hudson Hope. The time was 11 00 PM last Sunday and police search by boat found no trace amid open water and strong current.

Little League Baseball Starts Season With Plans and Staffing

The Little League enters another season with 16 game schedule plus tournament play and playoffs. The executive team lists Dick Dorash as President Peter Robertson as Vice President Mary Robertson as Secretary and Clara Dorash as Treasurer. Sixteen games require 12 coaches and managers for two senior and four junior teams. Glenn Smathers is Chief Umpire with four more umpires sought. Fred Sippel serves as Player Agent.

Hotel Addition Expands Chetwynd with 33 Rooms

Final plans show a new concrete block addition to the Chetwynd Hotel adding 33 rooms and 2 suites with four small retail spaces. A bank may occupy one store until it secures quarters. The 138 by 88 foot extension includes a full basement, air conditioning, and a bus passenger waiting room. Gordon Moore and Art Kensitt said construction starts immediately.

$3,500,000 Planned for South Peace Roads Projects

L A Stan Carneill announced at the chamber meeting that about 7 people were present as plans outline $3.5 million for highways in Peace River South riding. Funds cover Hart Highway construction, Mile 153 163 paving prep, gravel and paving from Pine Pass to Silver Sands, and Hudson Hope Chetwynd road work. Additional sums include No 2 highway to Alberta, minor bridges, and day labor.
