Weekly Weather and Crop Bulletin Des Moines May 31
The week was unusually cool with frosts on some nights and minor ice on the 23rd. Heavy rains delayed corn planting in the south but most fields are in and cultivation has begun. Stand is good though cutworms trouble sod ground. Small grains and winter rye head well and potatoes and fruits are in good condition despite slow growth.
