Centennial preparations fill town for July 30 celebration
Old town decorates Main Street with holiday colors and special displays for the Centennial. Flower Lover's Club hosts headquarters at Dr. and Mrs. Faulkner's lawn. visitors are urged to register at Despatch office. Exhibits include a quilt and coverlet at Odd Fellows Hall and relics in the vacant bank. A pre Centennial union service airs Sunday. Louis Landman of New York Central speaks at 11:30 a.m. The day features a parade, queen crown, a band, old melodies, an Old Fiddlers contest, free attractions, fireworks, street dancing, and a popular girl contest with votes tallied. Proceeds from a log cabin float aid the Centennial fund. Centennial books go on sale at Despatch office.

Injuries Improve After Local Accidents and Hazards
Community members injured in recent days show rapid improvement. Mrs. Morris Schultz suffered a knee injury and bruises from a rollover on River Road near West Lafayette, with Lillian and Mr. Schultz also bruised. the car was a total loss. Elmer Harlan cut his left hand and is improving after medical care. Mrs. Willard E. Rusk cut her hand when a glass jar broke during canning. her hand heals. Carl Henthorn narrowly avoided a severed finger when a tree limb struck his knife while sharpening a pencil. he is doing well.

Woman Found Dead At Home Near Hillsboro
Mrs. Mary Pursley died of heart trouble at her Hillsboro area home. Her husband, George Pursley, found her in bed Monday morning after noticing she was sleeping earlier. Eye Injury During Threshing Near Wayneton
Kenneth Schenk, assisting in threshing at his brother John Schenk's farm southwest of Wayneton, suffered a painful left eye injury when a straw bundle slipped from a pitchfork tearing at the eye corner. Auto Crash Leaves Local Man Seriously Injured
George Simpson, a Culver area garage man, is seriously injured with a shattered left arm after his Chrysler side swiped a stock truck east of Waynetown. Accompanied by his wife and Miss Mellie Holmes, Simpson was treated at Dr. Faulkner's office and rushed to Culver Hospital. the group sustained minor injuries and shock.

E. K. McBroom Dies After Amputation at Lake View Hospital
Eliriagé K McBroom of Veedersburg died Sunday night in Danville after a post operative complication following a week earlier left foot amputation. Born August 6, 1854, son of Elam and Margaret McBroom, he lived mostly near Hillsboro. Survived by two sons Fred of Pine Village and Dean near Veedersburg, and daughter Mrs Monte Holland of Kansas City. Funeral held Tuesday at 10:30 at his son Dean McBroom’s home near Yeddo, burial in Hillsboro Cemetery.
