Pensacola Cannons and Shells Arrive

Two cannons and shells loaned to Wooster G A R from the Navy Yard arrive. The artifacts came from the U S steamer Pepacola launched in 1854 and later served as a receiving ship near New Orleans. The guns weigh 1600 pounds each, with 80 forty pound balls accompanying them.

Divorces Filed In Wayne and Milleraburg Areas

John W. Otéarown formerly of Wayne County filed for divorce from Bertha Deerow n who he wed in 1301 at Albion Indiana charging neglect and cruelty. Nancy Welter filed for divorce from Frederick Welter on grounds of wilful absence for over three years married July 28 1682 at Milleraburg with two children seeking custody.

Wooster Youth Stabbed at Alliance New Year Dance

Will Conrad of Wooster, about 23, was stabbed six times during a New Year’s night quarrel at Tanner’s hall in Alliance. He lies in precarious condition with back wounds at least one grave, surgery performed by Dr. J A Roach. The incident stems from a dispute over an earlier alleged assault involving A Lugenbach. Mrs Magdalene Conrad, his mother, filed in Alliance Mayor Walker’s court accusing Charles Zmutt of cutting with intent to wound.

Wooster University Elopement Ends in Cleveland Marriage

Wooster University students Miss Hina Foxcroft and Edward Bolles left campus last week sparking rumors. A roommate hinted the pair eloped after Bolles, employed at Dayton, guided the plan. They wed in Cleveland at Rev. H W Halbert's church Thursday evening. Bolles 23 Foxcroft 22.

James M Shaffer Dies After Long Training Hunt Horses

Jas M Shaffer aged 58 years 8 months 21 days died at his home 40 E Bowman St Saturday night. He trained trotting horses and served in the 369th Ohio during the Rebellion. He was at one time a Wooster police officer. Wife Mrs Shaffer survives. Funeral held 2 p.m. Tuesday with interment in Wooster Cemetery.

Jury Finds for Kratzer in Common Pleas Case

In the Kratzer versus Miller suit the jury ruled for the plaintiff. The Willis Bishop guardianship case of Elizabeth Kelly versus Samuel McAfee sought $2400 for care of Mrs. Kelly. Coxey to Found Scandinavian Colony Near Meesillon Quarry

Meesillon Ohio January 4 General J A Coxey plans to establish a Scandinavian colony at the quarries north of the city. He notes labor shortages have drawn undesired elements and social trouble among workers. Coxey will escort thirty five Scandinavians from Onatle Garden to Maasilon and study conditions to offer workers opportunity to improve.
