67 applicants attended a Saturday examination at Wooster WE School on February 4 covering theory and practice in education, language, geography, arithmetic, physiology, hygiene, and history. The paper lists questions on Pestalozzi, Shakespeare, conjugation, relative pronouns, orthography, geography, and public notices.

Captain Win P Van Doorn of Wayne County dies at his North Market Street home after years of military duty. The Wooster funeral honors include G A R, Knights of Pythias, and Masons, with services led by Reverends Baker Smyth and Smith. Survived by wife Mary and daughters Jay J Kitey, E R Jones, and others.
Thomas Wasson and his sister Miss Kate Wasson of Wayne were struck by a Baltimore and Ohio engine at the Smyaser warehouse crossing in Overton while returning from church. The horse bolted about 100 feet, the buggy wrecked. Thomas was unconscious with internal injuries but no broken bones, and Miss Wasson was bruised but able to go home.
Wm Tyler of Plain Two, a 70 year old farmer, was shot dead at about 11 p.m. by an assailant in Blachleyville. His son slept through the incident. Tyler died almost instantly from a head wound. The funeral was held Wednesday with a large family including L. O. Tyler of Wooster North and Mrs Zane Funk of 8 Burial at Fairview cemetery.
