Miss Flora Taylor aged 49 died Saturday August 9 at Marsilion hospital after years of illness. Former Wooster resident youngest daughter of the late Samuel and Margaret Taylor. Remains brought to Wooster for interment. Funeral services were held at the residence of her sister Mrs. E Dowell on E North Monday afternoon Rev J H Deeds of the M E church officiating. Pallbearers were Geo Fisher Wealey Zangg BE K Gesselman L C Franks and Florian Bobaffter.

Smothered in Wheat Accident Fatality at Applecreek Mill
On Thursday afternoon August 7 Isaac Grous, 13, was fatally injured at the Orryille Milling Co elevator in Applecreek. While shoveling wheat into an empty bin he vanished from sight and was later found dead beneath 500 bushels of wheat in another bin. Authorities believe he climbed out to watch boys near the mill, slipped while crossing to a window, and fell into the filling bin. Funeral services were held Saturday.

Ohio Coal Output Sets New Yearly Record in 1901
The Ohio state mine report shows 1901 coal production at 20,321,290 tons, up 847,641 from 1900, with 24,901 miners employed. Athens County led with 8,066,633 tons, and among other top producers Perry, Hocking, Jackson, and Guernsey posted strong figures. Iron ore and fireclay outputs also noted, while mining by machinery reached 10,487,814 tons.

Peter Massoni aged 31 a Wooster Brewing Co. laborer was found dead in Jacob Mougey's barn east of Wooster on Wednesday morning August 6. He collapsed after being sick. coroner ruled death from heart disease caused by excessive use of stimulants. He leaves a mother two brothers and two sisters. Funeral held at St Mary’s Catholic Church.

Horses Stolen Near Madison and West Salem
A roan driving mare with buggy and harness was stolen from John N Boer near Madison Tuesday night August 5. The tracks led toward Wooster with no usable trace. Painter John Kipfer reported horse thefts that week after driving a pony belonging to John Griest to West Salem and lodging it at Otto Parka’s barn. the pony vanished Friday morning along with the harness. The IOOF business men's picnic excursion to Silver Lake drew Wooster’s largest turnout, with 1881 tickets sold and two trains carrying the crowd. reports say the day was very enjoyable.

Ruth Greenawald age 13, daughter of Ella Greenawald of Boallavo, died in Cleveland Sunday August 10 after diphtheria. Survived by her mother and sister Fern.
