Turned Into Iron In Rome Pine Stump Turned to Ore
A Rome Tribune report describes a pine stump found turned into brown hematite ore inside storehouse spaces. Civil engineer F C Mand calls it a wood substitution for iron ore, not petrification, noting perfect fibrous bark arrangement and resin streaks visible in the ore. The piece emerged after blasting damaged part of the stump.
