Career Op Man With A History In South America And Siberia
John Count Ladinski recounts a lifelong flight from danger and crime. Born Warsaw 1830, he survived torture, robbery, and capture, fled to London, then Rio de Janeiro where a Brazilian navy post brought him peril and a near execution. After Siberian mines and a prison stint, a forged pardon unraveled, and he faced renewed peril before escaping again.

Weather Bureau Signals For Shore Vessels And Wind
The weather bureau uses two wind safety signals for mariners. A daytime red signal with a black center warns of dangerous winds, and a red light at night fulfills the same role. The offshore signal shows a black and white striped flag indicating wind direction relative to the caution signal. Northerly winds show a black stripe above the white, southerly winds below, with position indicating easterly versus westerly winds.
