William and James Dent of Coffee County were sent to Albany jail after Seward Lott reported missing goods from his Trewin County store for five weeks. Lott, who employed the youths, found in their trunks boots, knives, clothing, and jewelry totaling about $95 after inspecting a window entry.
Two colored boys Willie Gilmore and Lloyd Hill, both twelve to fourteen, went hunting. A misfire led to a pistol duel.
