BG Signs Put Out for Aviation Meet

Advertising committee in force places large banners for the Waycross aviation meet and census celebration. One of the biggest signs on Plant avenue near the First National Bank in Waycross. Similar signs to be seen in South Georgia towns with posters announcing flights of airships on March 19 and 11.

Navy Medical Director Retires on Aze Limit

Naval Medical Director Paul Fitzsimons is placed on the retired list after reaching the age limit for active service. In Pensacola, Army troops and sailors from battleships joined a parade celebrating the arrival of King Piscus I and his scout as Mardi Gras festivities began. Ware County Sunday School Association Elects 1911 Officers

The Ware County Sunday School Association closed last night after a successful gathering. Delegates elected E. D. Carswell as President J. B. Quarterman as Vice President and R. F. Zeigler as Secretary and Treasurer. An executive committee was chosen and J. L. Graves named temperance superintendent for the district.

Special to The Herald New York February 27 Joseph G Robin promoter declared sane by judge and jury arraigned for trial in the criminal branch of the supreme court. He faces indictments charging larceny of funds from banks in which he was interested.

After five hours of debate the House voted overwhelmingly to fortify the Panama Canal and appropriated 4,000.00 to begin work with total costs pegged near 1000000. The Senate sentiment is reported strongly in favor of inland water protection.

Waycross City Charter Whiskey Case Questioned

In Mayor's Court Col J S Walker overruled a demurrer claiming the Waycross Charter unconstitutional. The defense argued two distinct subject matters in the charter and that Section 5 reenacting the whiskey ordinance is unrelated. The case proceeds with Eliza Ford as the city brings the action. The issue may go to the Supreme Court for final ruling.

The Knights of the Modern Maccabees hosted a pleasant Saturday night social for Grand Officer Col C C Thomas of Port Huron Michigan during a southern tour of tents. A large crowd including W of W members attended at Waycross hall. Thomas praised Waycross growth and noted he is a Republican suggesting Woodrow Wilson could frighten Republicans if nominated.

Murder threat in arson case shocks Valdosta

Walter Cribb of Waresboro faced a commitment trial in Valdosta on arson charges after burning a depot and post office. Witness C W Rigdon testified Cribb attempted to burn Murphy’s house and warned of killing Rigdon if he revealed the plan. Cribb’s bond was set at 1200 dollars but he failed to post and remained jailed.

Danville Virginia reports Miss Dorothy Arnold the New York heiress, missing across the U S and Europe, spent nearly a week in the city and left suddenly last Wednesday per police. Revival Attended as First Methodist Hosts Large Sunday Service

A large crowd packed the First Methodist church for the revival with hundreds pledging to live a better life. Minister Hob Jones and singer Mr. Makin led strong sessions with daily services at 10 am and 7 30 pm and a 3 30 pm children's gathering. In Mayors Court O P Maddox white Elizie Ford John Rouse and Randolph Sinclair colored faced whiskey selling charges. Maddox’s case continued to tomorrow at 9 o clock Eliza Ford was tried and dismissed The remaining cases were dropped due to evidence from Ford Ford and Rouse were arrested by Sheriff Pittman and committed to jail under county warrants on the same charges

White Arrested Again at Father-in-Law's Warrant

Lone White of Savannah was rearrested at 10 o clock Sunday by Sheriff Pittman on a warrant from White's father-in-law W R Smith. He had been freed after a preliminary on kidnapping and desertion, with a second hearing underway before Judge W A McDonald.
