Waycross boards of trade announce a three day aviation meet and census celebration featuring J S Berger and other Birdmen. Freezing Weather Targets Georgia Tuesday Night

A cold front brings a freeze to North Georgia tonight and Tuesday. Temperatures may dip below freezing as the northwest cold wave brings heavy snows northward. Fruit growers fear damage to Georgia crops, especially fruit trees in Waycross where blossoms are in full bloom. Local revival and athletic events at the First Methodist Church will begin at 8:30 listing brass band music and bicycle aid activities.

Knights of Pythias At The Central Baptist Church

One of the largest gatherings of Knights of Pythias attended a Central Baptist Church service. Rev W H Scruggs preached a strong sermon on Fraternity with representatives from nearly every Fraternal Order present. Scruggs praised the brotherhood and its aid to the people amid earnest singing and special music.

Dispute Over Prisoner Transfer Between Courts

W. W. Cribb faced lunacy trial in Ordinary Court after a conflict with United States Court over custody. Assistant District Attorney C. H. Coddington argued for US authority. A. B. Brittain represented the post office. Judge B. H. Thomas ruled for US custody and ordered Cribb transferred to the US Court, to be taken to Valdosta by Deputy Marshal Sutton that evening.

Husband Convicted Wife Goes Insane in Sequel

In Petersburg on February 20 a tragic sequel to Count O'Brien DeLassy’s murder conviction emerges. His wife, sister of Count Vassill Bouturlin and daughter of General Bouturlin, has become insane after the verdict and plans to join her husband in Liberia. She vanished, was spotted by a lawyer, detained with police help, and later deemed mentally unfit by physicians.

Girl Charges Preacher With Her Downfall

Rome Georgia February 20 Joseph B Cox a known Rome preacher and shoemaker was arrested in Gadsden and to be returned to Rome on a serious charge by Miss Emma usky a resident outside the city Cox preached with unconventional doctrine including laying on of hands as part of his religion he sought young women converts though married his wife is living. Indignation in East Rome followed the war event and a sworn affidavit was filed against him.

Banker Charged With Largely Bank Failure

Alexandria Va Feb 20 C Jonen Hixey arraigned to answer charges after the failure of the Viretyga Safe Deppalt and Trust Corp of which he was president. The firm went into receivership Dec 29 with eight branches scattered across Virginia. Indictments accuse Hixey of larceny making false statements about the bank and falsifying the institution’s accounts.

Plucky Woman Hires At Black Suspect Hunted Near Thomasville

In Thomasville Georgia Coputy Sheriff Riceberg and a posse returned from an early morning chase after a negro believed to threaten Mrs Harris wife of a local farmer. Harris fired several times as the intruder fled. Dogs tracked the trail to an old saw mill before losing it. No identification of the suspect was possible due to darkness.
