Cox Speech Draws Mixed Reviews in Des Moines
Des Moines reports Sen Clem Kimball of Council Bluffs says Gov Cox failed to fairly present the league of nations covenant and drew applause mainly from a reserved section. He calls Cox a good speaker but not presidential size. Kimball predicts Southwestern Iowa remains strongly Republican and notes Harding’s Des Moines visit planned for Oct 7 with Cummins accompanying and introducing him. Iowa women delegates head to Marion Ohio for Social Justice Day to greet Harding.
