Des Moines reports reveal Iowa faces heavy corn losses from soft corn due to frosts and cool, cloudy weather. One third of fields remain in milk stage with little chance of maturity, threatening next year’s yields. Livestock feeding may salvage some value, and seed corn will be scarcer without precautions. Winter wheat seeding slows as Hessian fly emerges. Honey production halves from last year and colonies may require feeding.
