Navy Accepts Latest Air Titan After Night Flight Over City
Navy officials announced the acceptance from WE Goodrich of Akron of two large airship balloons built under Henri Julliot for night operations over a metropolis. Knabenshue piloted the craft on eight hours aloft, cruising 6,000 feet at times and 60 mph, testing endurance and maneuverability. Julliot extolled dirigibles for surprise, control, and safety while noting envelope work by women. In London, no night air raid warnings will be fired, as shrapnel poses greater danger than bombs.
