Girl Sentenced in Dubuque Case for Abandoned Infant
A 13 year old Dubuque county girl who abandoned her four week old baby in Dyersville last week faces sentencing in district court next Tuesday. The infant was found behind a billboard after the train from Chicago arrived at midnight. The mother was arrested next morning and claims she left the baby hoping someone would find it and give it a home. The infant, though well clothed, suffered exposure. it is now under care in Dubuque. Also to be brought to court is Mrs. Martha Royaker, who pleaded guilty to grand larceny. This marks a rare joint sentencing in district court for two women admitting serious charges.
