W. Hibbs of Numa Appanoose County was duped into buying 5000 in Associated Packing stock and later 5000 more as stock salesmen used big five firms Armour Morris Swift to promise high dividends. They offered notes renewals and later resale at 125 to 150 per share while Hibbs faced mounting losses, with court records shown in Judge McCall's courtroom as he testified to fraudulent misrepresentation.

Aviator drops 4500 feet and survives with leg fracture
Frank Wallace and Ad Bettendorf werepiloting a Wallace aviation field craft over Pleasant Valley township when a tail spin forced a crash from an estimated 4500 feet. Wallace sustained a compound fracture of the left leg while Bettendorf was shaken but unharmed internally. The accident occurred at 4 p.m. Thursday near Duck Creek. Witnesses rushed to aid the pilots who were later taken to Mercy hospital. The field cites a new wave in the air and suspects a broken control wire caused the spin.
