Spanish War Veteran Dies at Soldiers Home in Marshalltown
James Davis, 49, a Spanish war veteran living at the Waterloo soldiers' home in Marshalltown, died of valvular heart disease after entering the home May 12. He served in Company L, Fiftieth Town, and Company H, Fourteenth United States Infantry. A single man with no known relatives, he had been ill at St Francis Hospital before being transferred to the home. Funeral services were held locally. Davis was not a member of the Waterloo Spanish-American War Veterans camp.
