New university buildings authorized for war training in Iowa
Des Moines Oct 9 The state executive council approved new engineering rooms at the University of Iowa costing 320000 and barracks about 274 by 454 feet costing 140000 for war training use. A steel roof over a 200 by 400 foot open court will serve as a training ground. Funding comes from the university maintenance fund supplied by the government at 1 per day per student for 270 days. There are 2300 students in the program.
